The Amazing Human Heart
“Do you not see that Allah has made subject to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth and amply bestowed upon you His favors, [both] apparent and unapparent? But of the people is he who disputes about Allah without knowledge or guidance or an enlightening Book [from Him].” Al Quran, 31:20
The heart is a powerful involuntary muscle that sends a single drop of blood around the 100,000 kilometers of blood vessels about a thousand times a day. We cannot control what the heart does.
The heart is only the size of a human fist.
The heart pumps blood to 75 trillion cells everyday.
The heart is protected by the rib cage.
There are four valves in the human heart, they ensure that blood only goes one way, either in or out.
The heart has its own electrical supply and will continue to beat when seperated from the body.
Out of all the muscles in our bodies, heart does the most work.
If you grab a tennis ball and squeeze it with all your might, you would roughly understand how hard the heart works to pump blood, every second of every day.
Allah says in the Quran: “And whatever of blessings and good things you have, it is from Allah” [al-Nahl 16:53]. Let us take a moment and thank Allah for the blessing of the heart.
